My May/June column addressed the unprecedented challenges our world had been experiencing, noting that “During times like these, it is easy to allow fear and negativity to dominate our thoughts.” I write this column in early July—and these words still ring true. COVID-19 continues to cause personal, economic, and societal crisis. Social injustice and unrest have forced us, as individuals and as a nation, to re-examine our values and beliefs and be part of conversations that are sometimes uncomfortable.
