When I got my first job in ophthalmology working the front desk, I had no intention of sticking around and every intention of going into the accounting field. I had been attending school full time. I even had a job offer at a firm upon graduation, contingent on earning my master’s degree in accounting. However, I worked for wonderful physicians throughout my college career and they offered to create a position for me so that I’d stay. The position entailed managing accounts payable and other corporation finances. The decision was tough: take a job that I always thought I wanted or stay at the place where people were willing to take a chance on me?
