Many practices rolled out or ramped up telehealth services rapidly during the COVID-19 public health emergency. At the same time, many clinicians and staff suddenly shifted into telework. These unexpected, yet necessary, changes greatly enhanced patients’ and providers’ safety. But, according to experts, they also created privacy and security gaps that put protected health information (PHI) at risk.
