Computer technology is commonplace in schools, the workplace, and healthcare, reducing “pen-and-paper” to sticky-note reminders. Although paper charts still exist, 90% of medical practices in the U.S. use an electronic medical record. Over time, technicians and scribes forwent what was natural to them—pen and paper—to learn a system of typing, drop-downs, and open data fields.
