In 1980 before she came to ophthalmology, Stacey S Koch, ABO, said she worked as a “starving artist with a great résumé but no financial success.” She’d studied fine arts in college, earning a BFA in ceramics and exhibiting in some of the top shows and galleries in the United States. To earn money, she worked part-time in a small optical shop.
