Having been in a multispecialty private practice for 16 years prior to starting my own, I had a clear understanding of how I wanted it structured. Initially, I naively thought a practice administrator wouldn’t be needed until 12-18 months after opening. Thankfully though, I came to realize this wasn’t ideal. It is so important to have a quality administrator early on who excels at what they do, leaving us ophthalmologists to do what we do best, which is seeing and caring for patients and thereby produce revenue for your practice.
