COVID-19 spurred procedural thinking that increased Eye Associates of Tucson’s ability to care for patients. Director of Clinical Operations Holly Fields, COA, said, “The new COVID-19 protocols and guidelines offered the perfect platform to try a different workflow in rebuilding our cataract consult volumes.” To keep a reasonable number of patients and staff in the office, the clinic shifted to an initial cataract consultation with an optometrist, a telehealth visit with the surgeon, and postoperative care with the optometry team
