No matter the size of your practice, it is brimming with differing personalities, perspectives, and personal morals. Just as healthcare providers uphold the Hippocratic Oath and adhere to the Ethical Standards set by the International Council of Ophthalmology, ophthalmology leaders also rely on established ethical guidelines. Some practices may even have their own professional ethics statements to further guide employees in their decision-making processes. Although professional ethics are important, they can’t inform every single decision a person makes, and they can’t account for nuance or individuality.
