At work, we might not consider love languages important or even appropriate to know or fulfill. The five love languages — acts of service, receiving gifts, physical touch, quality time, and words of affirmation — are often thought to apply only to romantic relationships. However, love languages are crucial for all relationships: platonic, professional, familial, and romantic. When colleagues, especially those in leadership, commit to honoring their employees’ love languages, they can improve workplace morale, increase employee engagement, and improve employee retention.
