In 2020 (before the arrival of COVID-19) there were already 7 million people working remotely in the U.S., or 3.4% of the population.” Today, COVID-19 has made the need for remote work paramount due to the growing uncertainty of its impact on the future of the workforce, and it is necessary for healthcare leaders to determine how to thrive in this new landscape, and, of course, to decide which staff positions can be transitioned to remote work. To do this, it is necessary to understand how to best evolve managerial styles and resources to fit this new landscape.
