Guiding and Growing A Mid-Level Manager

Advancement and promotion from within are very common in ophthalmology practices. Many of today’s administrators “grew up” through the ranks and worked hard to get to where they are today, likely with some bumps along the road. Persevering through the challenges, relishing the successes, balancing confidence with humility, and growing personally and professionally are traits that we must develop as leaders. We also have the privilege of providing the same opportunity to the next generation of leaders. As administrators, identifying the standout employee who has the skills and talent to be promoted into a leadership position is quite exciting! Providing them a solid roadmap on how to transition to a management position is the key to ensuring they will be set up for success.
