Participant Eligibility
To ensure each participant is positioned for success, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Approved or recommended by practice leadership
- At least one year of experience working in ophthalmology and currently employed in an ophthalmology practice
OR
At least one year of management experience (can be in combination with ophthalmology experience) - Motivated to grow professionally and ready to learn more about the business side of ophthalmology
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ASOA membership is required
- If your practice includes at least one Essential or Premier ASOA member, an Associate membership can be requested for you.
Program Cost and Registration
ASOA Member Pricing:
$1,295 per participant
- Applies to employees of practices with ASOA membership
- If the participant is not currently an ASOA member, but works at a practice with an Essential or Premier member, approval from that member is required
Non-Member Pricing:
If your practice has no current ASOA members, you’ll need to first establish an ASOA membership. Once membership is confirmed, you’ll be eligible for the $1,295 participant rate.
Cancellations:
Subject to a $100 cancellation fee.

What to Expect as a LEAD Participant
Congratulations on taking this exciting step! The LEAD Certificate Program is built to support your success through a balance of interactive learning, real-world insights, and flexible participation.
Participants commit to:
- A six-month learning journey (September 2025 – February 2026)
- One live, virtual session per month (attendance is required)
- Engaged participation in group discussions, polls, and collaborative exercises
- Completion of all assignments, including:
- Pre-session prep work
- On-demand learning content
- Post-session activities and brief assessments
You’ll leave the program not only with new skills, but also a LEAD Certificate to recognize your accomplishment.
