The advice to “work smarter, not harder” is more appropriate now than ever. With the labor shortage hitting many industries, including healthcare, your current employees may be struggling to keep up. Expecting “all things reimbursement” to be handled by the billing office staff may set you up for failure. An effective, efficient revenue cycle process requires participation from many people in the practice—your entire team. It is important to review your process to see if it is still working well. Appropriate steps taken early in the process (e.g., pre-authorizations) may alleviate problems later (e.g., claim denials).
