In ophthalmology, oculoplastic sub-specialists tend to concentrate on treating facial, adnexal, orbital, and lacrimal problems. Some providers specialize in reconstruction following excision of cancer while others address a patient’s desire to have the festoons of the lower eyelids removed for aesthetic purposes. Simply put, the oculoplastic provider delivers reconstructive and restorative procedures to both enhance function and cosmesis. In this article we focus on documentation challenges surrounding functional lid procedures like blepharoplasty and ptosis repair.
