2019 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) Proposed Rule Released

On Thursday, July 12th, CMS released the CY 2019 MPFS Proposed Rule, which will be published in the Federal Register on July 27, 2018, with a 60-day comment period. ASCRS will be submitting comments.

FDA Alert: Cease Immediate Use of Sterile Drug Products from Ranier's Compounding Laboratory Due to Lack of Sterility Assurance

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting healthcare professionals and patients not to use drug products intended to be sterile that are produced and distributed by Ranier’s Compounding Laboratory, also doing business as Ranier’s Pharmacy and Ranier’s RX Laboratory, Jeannette, Pennsylvania, due to lack of sterility assurance.

2017 MIPS Feedback Reports with 2019 Payment Adjustment Information Now Available; File Targeted Reviews with CMS by September 30

CMS has released 2017 MIPS feedback reports, which include information on 2019 payment adjustments. You must log into the Quality Payment Program (QPP) site to access the report. CMS will not distribute the reports through email or U.S. mail. Log into your portal on the QPP site using your Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) credentials.

2017 MIPS Final Score and 2019 Payment Adjustment Information Now Available

On Friday, June 29th, CMS announced that 2017 MIPS final scores and performance feedback reports, which include 2019 payment adjustment information, are now available on the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website. MIPS participants can log into the QPP site using their Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) credentials.

CMS QPP Website Now Includes 2018 MIPS Measures and Activities

CMS Releases 2019 ICD-10CM Updates with Significant Changes to Ophthalmology Codes

This week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the ICF-10CM updates for FY 2019. The 2019 ICD-10-CM codes are to be used for patient encounters and discharges occurring from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019. New Medicare Cards MBI Look-Up Tool Available Through Your MAC

As of this week, all Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC) secure portals Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) look-up tools are available for use. This tool is used to look up MBIs for Medicare patients when they have lost or do not have their Medicare card. To access the tool, you will need to sign up for your MAC’s portal.
