Meetings Member Testimonials

The ASOA Congress was amazing! It was my first experience with something so big. I loved meeting people who had been just names before--it was like meeting celebrities.
I attended some very meaningful and timely presentations, but most of all, I enjoyed the fabulous opportunity to network with people from all over the country, from very small practices (like mine) to very large practices with multiple locations. I’ve always said that I have gained more knowledge from networking at seminars than from the actual presentations. Just hoping I can go next year!

I have been attending the ASCRS/ASOA Symposium & Congress for many years. I look forward to this educational event. Every year, I learn a few more pearls and am able to utilize this valuable information in our practice. I enjoy the ASOA Networking Room tremendously and value the opportunity to network with my peers. The roundtable discussions in the network room are also noteworthy and very educational. It seems I always arrive at this symposium rather “run down” after a busy winter….and I leave educated, rejuvenated and ready to tackle the next project at work!
If you have never been to the ASCRS/ASOA Symposium & Congress or it has been a few years since you have attended, I strongly encourage you to make plans to go! ASOA has developed courses for both the new and experienced administrators, so there is something for everyone--new classes and opportunities every year. Our technical office manager, business office manager and billing supervisor attend this meeting, as well. We purposely attend different classes throughout the meeting and are able to bring so much more back to the practice.

There are about 7,000 ophthalmology practices in America, and a similar number of ophthalmic administrators. Their jobs have never been harder or faster-paced than right now—and the years ahead will only be more challenging. The annual ASCRS*ASOA Symposium & Congress is the largest gathering in the nation of ophthalmic administrators. And yet, fewer than half of the country’s ophthalmic management pros attend this vital meeting. If you are not yet an ASOA member, or if you are a member who has not yet attended the annual meeting, you owe it to your career—and your practice’s future success—to get engaged.

I had a very beneficial experience at ASCRS/ASOA. I attended both AAO and ASCRS and found the ASCRS/ASOA experience to be better, by far. The focused program for administrators is excellent, in offering a wide variety of topics. I brought my staff along (four members) who were thoroughly energized by new ideas.

The value of the intimacy of the Winter Update is priceless. Superb. I will highly recommend this to my peers. Thank you, ASCRS and ASOA.

I recently attended my first Winter Update meeting. This meeting provided more information and gave me more helpful contacts than any other meeting I have attended in past years. The sessions had more of an open forum, so I could ask questions and get feed back from other attendees. Our office is currently taking on the challenge of setting up an EMR system. Having the opportunity to speak directly with the speakers, presenters and organizers, was extremely valuable. Every year information changes regarding Medicare, coding or government. It was nice to be notified of all these changes before the year was half over and mistakes were made. I will definitely be attending this meeting again in the future.
