Meetings Member Testimonials
David Boegler, MBA
I am new to the ophthalmic industry and I had the opportunity to attend the past two ASOA conventions. I would recommend anyone, new or experienced, to attend the ASOA conventions as they have excellent lectures and are great for networking. I look forward to the next one.

I have attended ASOA over the last 20 years. The organising committee, the speakers and the content - all of it is totally outstanding. This large body of people are very inspiring, dedicated and committed to their profession. ASOA certainly plays a huge part and adds value to ASCRS meetings. I look forward to saying hello to familiar faces and take away new tips for personal and professional growth.

I have been in Ophthalmology for 30 years now, and I must say the ASCRS/ASOA meeting has become a highlight of my year. I look forward to learning new pearls of wisdom each year. As well as networking with colleagues in our field in order to bring new exciting information back to our practice.

I have been an ASOA member for many years, and even though I can’t attend the Annual Meeting every year, I always make sure that I do not miss two years in a row! The meetings give me the opportunity to seek out what I want to increase my knowledge on, and the flexibility to attend only courses that pertain to me and my practice is very valuable. And if I attend a certain course that ends up not meeting the needs of what I intended it to, I can sneak out and seek another course that may better fit my agenda. So to attend one meeting that offers speakers from all sorts of professions, types of practices, etc. is a value that I never see in other meetings of this magnitude. ASOA Annual Meeting offers so much, and the efficiency in which it is done is incredible!

I have been attending ASCRS since 2009, Every year I come back revitalized. The ASOA classes fill my administrative vision with one strong theme for an improvement I want for my office for the upcoming year. My growth as an office leader is helped through the classes I take but even more important is the relationship and the exchange of ideas I have with my professional peers who are now my friends. We share information throughout the year and our mini group has developed directly from my attendance at ASCRS. This is networking I would not have been able to achieve without the ASOA meeting. I have taught a class in the ASOA marketing track a few times and my preparation for this helps me fine tune my own skills and clarify my thoughts. This preparation helps me in what I consider my most significant role within our practice of patient education combined with surgical counseling on elective choices in Ophthalmology. I am excited that I will be teaching once again this year!

Attending ASOA meetings has been a ‘Right of Passage’ for virtually ALL of today’s leading administrators and managers. In my opinion, it should be required course material for all eye care professionals, including physicians.

The ASOA meetings are a major plus in my book. I used to attend all the ASCRS meetings with MD's from my practice and I was thinking - what can I do with this info? It's not like I can use much of it granted most are for our patients however I wanted deeper knowledge on running a practice and making it successful - that's what ASOA meetings helped me with. I get to meet amazing people with amazing information and networking like never before. The exchanges and the sharing is incredible. The tools and lectures are priceless I recommend all managers to attend it can only make your practice successful!

The ASCRS/ASOA Symposium & Congress is a must for administrators at all levels. Even after 30 years in this industry, I look forward to the meeting and all it has to offer. Not only is this a good time to meet with vendors and take part in the educational programs, it’s an opportunity to network and gain insight from others facing the same trials and tribulations. I’ve found so many mentors and learned so much from those involved in these meetings—you can’t put a price on the experience.

I look forward to these meetings every year. I learn more than I ever expect. The instructors are always fantastic. It is great to network with professionals that have the same positive and challenging experiences we all face working in ophthalmology. I fell into ophthalmology as a teenager working in medical records and have worked my way up, over the last 18 years, to the business office manager position. One of the greatest courses I took at the recent Boston meeting, had a panel of women in ophthalmology sharing their personal stories on how they ended up in this career and experiences on how to be successful in our field. I left feeling inspired and truly blessed to have one of the great women on the panel as my mentor and boss, Laurie Brown.
I have been to meetings in Chicago, Boston and San Francisco. Each venue has been easy to navigate through and all of the meetings have been well-organized, always staying on time. I will go to this meeting every year I am blessed with the opportunity.

Wow, what an incredible experience! Networking with other professionals not only affords encouragement, but strengthens your confidence and knowledge. The speakers were amazing, the venue incredible and the city was spectacular. There is no way anyone could attend this meeting and not return from it with new-found excitement and enthusiasm for their work.
