Hybrid Telemedicine Visits Here to Stay

In response to 2020’s Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary, under Section 1135 of the Social Security Act, waived certain requirements for government health services, including telemedicine/telehealth services. As a result, practices may consider several CPT coding sequences when delivering and billing telemedicine services. Delivery of the service using audio only, audio, and real-time video, or text-based communication via a portal, such as an EHR patient portal, are the key factors for selecting the proper code.
