With two ophthalmologists approaching retirement, Eye Physicians of Southwest Virginia (EPSW) were evaluating their succession plan—and created an innovative ownership model. Optometrists were an integral part of the practice and already involved with practice decisions; EPSW wanted to tap their talent and understanding, so they developed an optometrist buy-in option.
