Amid current CDC safety guidelines and recommendations for providing patient care during the pandemic, practices have had to innovate delivery methods and services to increase and/or maintain pre- COVID-19 patient volumes. Some modifications have included offering telehealth visits, prioritizing subspecialty services, and providing drive-up clinics for essential visits, as applicable (see “Drive-Up IOP Checks—Providing Necessary Care During COVID-19 Quarantine” AE, Sept/Oct 2020). Although many practices have seen a full (or nearly full) recovery of patient volumes while adapting to the new and stringent social distancing norms necessitated by the emergence of COVID-19, the question remains: What more can be done to maximize our work-flows and resources?
