ASCRS and ASOA are advocating to increase the value of post-operative E/M visits included in 10- and 90-day global codes and to eliminate the E/M add-on code or implement it in a non-budget-neutral manner. Without these changes, the budget neutrality of the physician fee schedule means there will be a significant payment reduction for ophthalmology, and all surgical specialties, through a reduction to the conversion factor.
