What IS the difference between success and failure? Often, it’s how much support someone receives along the way. A 2017 survey1 of 1,076 working adults by the American Psychological Association found that supervisor support was linked to key organizational outcomes, including job performance and how long staff stayed with the organization. Of those who reported a lack of supervisor support, only 39% said they were satisfied with their job and only 16% said they felt valued by their employer. Meanwhile, those who reported having a supportive supervisor were twice as likely to be motivated to do their best at work.
