SGR Repeal and Replacement Legislation Passes the Senate; President Obama Expected to Sign into Law

Thanks to the Thousands of ASCRS•ASOA Members Who Got in the Game and Contacted Your Legislators: You Made a Difference!

Today, the U.S. Senate passed by a bipartisan vote of 92 to 8. H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 to permanently repeal and replace the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. The House passed H.R. 2 in March, and President Obama is expected to sign the bill into law immediately to prevent the 21.2% cut to Medicare physician services. The Senate considered 6 amendments to the bill, all of which failed.

A special thank you to the thousands of ASCRS•ASOA members who joined with their colleagues across the medical community and met with, called, or emailed their Representatives and Senators throughout the legislative process. We truly could not have achieved this without your efforts.

Over the coming weeks, ASCRS•ASOA will be providing guidance to members on the provisions included in H.R. 2. Please remember that H.R. 2 also prevents the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) from proceeding with its policy to transition all 10- and 90-day global codes to 0-day.
As always, we will keep you updated.
