New Resources to Help You Understand the Quality Payment Program Proposed Rule; Changes to the Program Expected When Finalized

As we alerted you in April, CMS recently released the Quality Payment Program Proposed rule, which implements the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) and includes MIPS and advanced APMs. To help members understand the proposed rule and how it will impact their practices, ASCRS•ASOA has developed a proposed rule guide. In addition, CMS has created a web page on the Quality Payment Program, which features guides, webinar slides and recordings, and other resources.

As we reported last week, ASCRS•ASOA has identified several key issues we will be including in our comments, including requesting shortening the 2017 performance period to begin later in the year, and maintaining the option in the quality component to use the measures group option. In medical community discussions with CMS regarding this proposed rule, CMS seems willing to listen to stakeholder feedback and make adjustments in the final rule.

As new information becomes available on the proposed rule, we will include it in future Washington Watch Weekly editions and on our website. We will keep you updated.
