Exclusive Video for ASCRS•ASOA Members: CMS’ Chief of Innovation and Chief Medical Officer Patrick Conway, MD Responds to ASCRS Questions Regarding Meaningful Use

ASCRS recently had the exclusive opportunity to pose a series of questions regarding the EHR/Meaningful Use Incentive Program to Patrick Conway, MD, Deputy Administrator for Quality and Innovation and Chief Medical Officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The following video, “The EHR Meaningful Use Program: The Future of the Program and What it Means for Specialty Practices” features Dr. Conway responding to those questions so all ASCRS•ASOA members may hear directly from the Administration about the current status and future of the program. Specifically, the questions posed include what is being done to ensure the program is relevant to specialty practices, how physicians and practices can be successful in 2015, and what the opportunities are for making changes to the program.

ASCRS has submitted comments on the Meaningful Use Stage 3 Final Rule and recommended major reforms to the program, including a delay in implementation and changes to measures and thresholds. We will continue to work with CMS to implement those changes and will seek Congressional action, if necessary.
