CMS Extends 2014 Meaningful Use Attestation Deadline to March 20, 2015

Today, CMS announced that eligible professionals now have until 11:59pm ET on March 20, 2015 to attest to 2014 Meaningful Use.  CMS stated that they extended the deadline to allow providers extra time to submit their Meaningful Use data.

As a reminder, Medicare eligible professionals must attest to Meaningful Use in 2014 in order to avoid a 2% penalty in 2016.

CMS continues to urge providers to begin attesting for 2014 as soon as they can, and recommends that for a faster attestation experience, providers attest during non-peak hours such as evenings and weekends.

Please note, the Medicare extension does not affect deadlines for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program. Additionally, the EHR reporting option for PQRS has been extended until March 20, 2015.
