The CPSS is such a great training tool to have. It has definitely improved our staff’s knowledge and boosted their confidence as well.
Wendy Thrall, CPSS
We signed up our office staff to complete the CPSS a while back and so far have had all but two complete and pass. One has to retake the test while the other was on leave and has until the end of July to take her initial test.
This was such a good opportunity to not only find out what the employees needed to know but also to make them feel better about the knowledge they already possessed. It was fun for them and seeing the certificate on the wall, as well as the lapel pin they can wear, has been a great motivator. We recently received our wall plaque for the office as well so our patients, doctors, and other staff members see this when they walk through the main office area.

I’m grateful a program like CPSS exists for my staff. At Advanced Eye Care, we encourage continuing education and, of course, believe that the more educated our staff the better the experience will be for our patients. Our physicians, licensed executive level, billers, opticians and technicians all had a well-defined path with recognizable achievements in licensure or certification. Now, my front desk personnel are not only held to the same standards of continuing education, but receive the recognition for their jobs well done. They are proud of the accomplishment, and I hope our patients receive an even better experience at our office.
Michele Porta, COA
Our practice is very diverse and I was searching for a way to ensure that each employee could become certified and earn credits yearly to retain the certification, it was as if ASOA and BSM Consulting read my mind! The broad range of topics covered fits well with the entire staff and the extra training in the areas of HIPAA, Blood Borne Pathogens and OSHA is appreciated.
Keith Froleiks, COE, CMA

The CPSS program has instilled a sense of accomplishment to our front desk staff. 60% of our eligible Patient Services employees have passed the exam. We hold this designation as high as the COA on the clinical side and the office staff appreciate the opportunity to display their knowledge and skills. The CPSS program has been an excellent addition to our staff development program.

Once we heard about the CPSS program, we signed up nearly everyone in the office! It really gives our physician owner a way to show the staff that they are appreciated, by investing time and money into a certification process for them. Until now, we have only offered education opportunities for our administration and technicians; the CPSS program allows us to give more opportunities to all staff.
Kathryn Fair, COE

Our office has been involved in the CPSS® program for almost a year now. Our non-clinical staff members really enjoy the opportunity for education and certification. We have encouraged all non-clinical staff to participate and have had really great results. Some are already certified, while many others are working on the program now. It is a great way to get the front desk staff involved in ophthalmic education!
Sandra G. Barrett, COE, CPSS

Our clinic has never lost site of the fact that patient care is our number one responsibility. Every department, from our techs, counselors, front office, billing, and phone center, is encourage to participate in the CPSS® program. This program allows us to provide additional training to all employees to ensure the patient is getting the treatment they deserve throughout the entire patient encounter.
Susan King, COT, CPSS
Patient care and satisfaction are critical measures in the success of any practice. When the Certification for Patient Service Specialist became available, we were very excited to have a comprehensive training program available to us. Although the program is designed for non-technical personnel, we feel it is important for every team member, from our patient services department, to our certified ophthalmic personnel, to our chief surgeon (well, truthfully, he volunteered), to be reminded how to appropriately communicate with our patients. On every level, this certification has been valuable.
