ASCRS•ASOA Releases Updated Quality Payment Program (QPP) Overview Guide for 2019

ASCRS•ASOA members have exclusive access to a new overview guide of the 2019 QPP, which includes MIPS and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APM) and impacts 2021 payments. In the final rule, CMS implements several key changes to MIPS, including an overhaul of the Promoting Interoperability category and provisions of the ASCRS-supported MACRA technical corrections that extended the MIPS transition period, kept the Cost category weight below 30% for three additional years, and removed Part B drugs from MIPS eligibility determinations and payment adjustments. Members should use this guide as a brief overview to understand the key changes for 2019. In addition, the guide outlines instances where the final rule differed from the proposed rule, such as setting the exceptional performance threshold at 75 points, rather than the proposed 80 points, and increasing the small practice bonus in the Quality category to six, rather than the proposed 3 points.

In the coming weeks, ASCRS will be updating our in-depth guides on each of the four categories of MIPS and other resources in the MACRA Center. We will keep you updated.
